Police will seek a 10-day remand under the Narcotics Control Act against five people, including businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud, who was arrested in a case of rape and attempted murder of Dhaka-based actress Parimani.

The accused in the case are Nasir Uddin Mahmud (65), Tuhin Siddiqui Ami (33), Lipi Akhter (18), Sumi Akhter (19) and Nazma Amin Snigdha (24).

Manik Kumar Sikder, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Detective Branch (DB) Gulshan Zonal Team, confirmed the information on Tuesday, June 15 morning.

He said the case was registered with the Airport Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act around 12 midnight on Tuesday. They will be handed over to the court on Tuesday afternoon and remanded for 10 days.

Earlier on Monday, June 14 at noon, the Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police arrested the five from their house at Sector-12 Road, Uttara-1.

At the end of the operation, DB joint commissioner Harun-ur-Rashid told reporters, "This (from where the arrest was made) is the home of Amir, the costume designer of Pori Moni. Nasir had fled the house with the three women after his girlfriend's press conference. We have also arrested the three women on drug charges."

Regarding Nasir, he said, "There have been cases of drug and women abuse against Nasir before. I have learned that he has been expelled from Uttara Club on various charges. If anyone complains against him, we will investigate."

Earlier, after making a complaint with a long status on Facebook around 8 pm on Sunday, he called the journalists at Banani's house at night and gave an account of the incident.

If you want to know about the status of the bride, Assistant Inspector General of Police Headquarters (AIG-Media and Public Relations) said. Sohail Rana told, ‘He will definitely get justice. We will work for his justice. I do not understand why he mentioned the name of IGP Sir. We are sure, he did not contact IGP Sir at all. IGP Sir has always been very respectful of the rights of women and children.

After that, at around 10:30 pm, Pori Moni revealed the names of the 'torturers' to the journalists at her Banani home.

"Last Wednesday, June 9 at 12 midnight, Ami took me to Nasir Uddin Mahmud in Birulia," Pori Moni told a news conference. At that time Nasir introduced himself as the president of Dhaka Boat Club. There Nasir offered me wine. If I don't agree, he tries to force me to drink alcohol. At one point he slapped me. Then he tried to torture and kill me. Amio is also involved in the incident.
