55 arrested in anti-drug drive across capital

Police in the capital has arrested 55 more people as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking. They were arrested in 24 hours in different areas of Dhaka by the DMP in various raids and intelligence operations.
DMP Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations (DC) Farooq Hossain gave this information.
The police official said that as part of regular anti-drug operations, raids were carried out in different areas of the capital from 6 am on Sunday, March 13 to 6 am on Monday, March 14. During the operation, 55 people were arrested for selling and consuming drugs.
During the arrest, 1,706 pieces of Yaba, 152.5 grams (54 Puria) of heroin, 4 kg 200 grams of cannabis, 5 bottles of domestic liquor, and 53 bottles of phensedyl were seized from them.
Police officer Farooq also said that 39 cases have been registered against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
