6 pirates arrested with weapons in Bay of Bengal

6 pirates arrested
RAB has arrested six pirates with arms and ammunition in a raid on the coast of Cox's Bazar in the Bay of Bengal.

They were apprehended from Sonadia Channel in Maheshkhali in the Bay of Bengal late on Friday night. At that time, 3 home-made guns and 11 rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.

The detainees are Nezam Uddin (22), Mohammad Shakil (24), Md. Sajjad (35), Sujan (24), Manik (32) and Omar Farooq (21). All of them are residents of Maheshkhali Upazila.

Major Sheikh Yusuf Ahmed, CPC commander of RAB-15 in Cox's Bazar, said: A team of RAB in disguise launched an operation in the sea.

At that time, 6 pirates were arrested from a fishing trawler with 3 home-made guns and 11 rounds of ammunition.

The process of taking legal action against them is underway.
