President Abdul Hamid called upon the local administration, police, people's representatives, and the people concerned to work together to curb drug abuse.

He made the call at the President Abdul Hamid Auditorium in Itna Upazila of Kishoreganj on Monday and exchanged views with members of various professional organizations and local officials.

The head of state instructed all concerned to be alert and aware of the harmful aspects of drugs.

Welcoming all the Union Parishad chairmen of the Itna Upazila elections in Kishoreganj, the President said that the winning and losing candidates would work together for the development of the area.

He said it was important to remember that the people had given a lot of votes to the defeated candidate. If the two work together, the confidence and trust of the people towards the people's representatives will increase and the overall development of the area will take place.

Regarding the behavior of some businessmen, the president said that some businessmen have taken advantage of world politics. They are taking advantage of the opportunity, but it should not be at all.

The President called upon all to work unitedly for the construction of 'Sonar Bangla' in the interest of the country and the people.

Abdul Hamid said everyone should take concerted initiatives to ensure ecological balance in protecting livelihoods and resources in the haor area. Beel, canals, and rivers are gradually filling up with sand coming from upstream. As a result, the livelihood of the haor is shrinking.

He called upon the local administration to take effective measures to control current nets and fishing. In this regard, the people's representatives, teachers, the people, and all must work in unison. Only then will the overall situation be better.
