4 dead at Cox's Bazar-Chattogram highway road accident

Four brothers were killed on the way back from Puja when they were hit by a speeding pickup van at Dulahazara Malumghat on the Cox's Bazar-Chattogram highway.

The incident took place at around 5 am on Tuesday, February 8 at the Dulahazara Malumghat Christian Memorial Hospital on the Cox's Bazar-Chattogram highway.

Safayet Hossain, in-charge inspector of Chakriya Malumghat Highway Police Station in Cox's Bazar, said that 9 members of the family including 7 sons and 2 daughters of late Suresh Chandra Sheel of Sagirshah Kata village of Dulahazara Union of Chakriya were crossing the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway at around 5 am on Tuesday.

Anupam Shil (47), Nirupam Shil (45), Deepak Shil (40), and Champak Shil (30) were critically injured in the incident.

Later, when their other brothers were taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared them dead.

Police said they were trying to seize the deadly pickup and arrest the driver.

Dulhazara UP Chairman Adar said, "All arrangements are being made by the Union Parishad for the funeral of the 4 killed brothers."
