Janazah has been completed in the prayers of Amir Allama Ahmad Shafi of Hefazat-e-Islam. Funeral service was held on Saturday 19 September at 2 pm. His son Maulana Mohammad Yusuf Madani led the janaza.

Along with members of RAB and police forces, 10 platoon BGB members were deployed in Hathazari, Patia, Rangunia and Fatikchhari to ensure security during the janaza prayers. Besides, 6 magistrates were on duty in 4 upazilas.

He passed away at Asgar Ali Hospital in the capital on Friday, September 18 at 7.30 pm.

Centenarian Allama Ahmad Shafi has long suffered from geriatric complications as well as diabetes, high blood pressure and shortness of breath.

Meanwhile, Allama Shafi fell ill on Thursday afternoon, September 17. He was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital by ambulance at night. In the morning the specialist doctors of the hospital sat on the medical board.

Doctors at Chittagong Medical College Hospital advised him to be taken to Dhaka at noon as his condition was critical. In the afternoon he was brought to Dhaka from Chittagong by air ambulance.

Allama Shafi was born in Pakhiartila village of Rangunia police station in Chittagong.
