Many people do not drink enough water daily. Many children do not want to drink enough water. In this case, many people drink other beverages such as fruit juice, soft drinks, tea, or coffee as an alternative to water.

However, researchers say that energy drinks, soft drinks, caffeinated beverages, or alcoholic beverages are not effective in preventing dehydration.

Dr. Lelin said babies up to 6 months after birth has no alternative to breast milk. Mother's milk provides them with the food and water they need.

"But in the case of adults, things are a little different. Taking juice or any other beverage as an alternative to water, which contains other nutrients besides the watery part in it, can upset the balance of a balanced diet in the body. That can cause damage. So juice or other drinking water is not a substitute," added Dr. Lelin.

Saline can be taken in case of excessive sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea. However, it is better not to eat saline for no reason. There is no substitute for drinking water to keep the body healthy and dehydrated.

Cells need to have water (H2O) to survive, even if they eat other beverages or watery fruits or soup to keep the body hydrated. If not enough water is consumed, the cells become dehydrated and digestion slows down.

"Drinking too much water is also bad. The kidneys excrete our body wastes and water. You have to drink enough water. Not less, not more."
