Former Finance Minister AM Abdul Muhith passes away

Former Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Razi'un) passed away at United Hospital in the capital at 00:56 am on Friday. He was 88 years old at the time of his death.

Members of the cabinet have expressed deep grief over the death of former finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith.

They expressed their grief in a condolence message sent to the media on Friday night, April 29th.

Among the ministers, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Planning Minister MA Mannan, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Railway Minister. Nurul Islam Sujan and Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed

State Minister for Planning. Shamsul Alam, Minister of State for Social Welfare. Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nesa Indira, Minister of State for Primary and Mass Education. Zakir Hossain, Minister of State for Disaster Management and Relief. Md. Enamur Rahman has expressed grief.

According to family sources, the first Janazah will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday at Gulshan Azad Mosque and the second Janazah will be held at 11:30 am at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad. His body will be taken to Shaheed Minar at 12 noon to pay homage to people of all walks of life.

After that, the body will be taken to Sylhet for burial. He will be buried there.

Born in Sylhet on January 25, 1934, Muhith was the third of 14 children of his mother Syeda Shah Banu Chowdhury and father Abu Ahmed Abdul Hafeez. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen is his younger brother.
