61 arrested in anti-drug operation in Dhaka

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 61 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital.

As part of the DMP's regular anti-drug drive, raids were carried out in different parts of the capital from 6 am on Sunday, February 6 to 6 am on Monday, February 07, arresting and seizing drugs.

On Monday, February 07, DMP's Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations (DC) Farooq Hossain confirmed this information.

He said 2,667 pieces of Yaba, 127 grams, 51 Puria heroin, 41 kg, 139 grams of cannabis, and 5.250 liters of domestic liquor were seized from the arrested persons.

The police official also said that 43 cases have been registered against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
