72 arrested in anti-drug operation in the capital

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Crime and Intelligence Division has arrested 72 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital.

As part of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's regular anti-drug drive, they raided various police stations from 6 am on Monday, October 25th to 6 am on Tuesday, October 26, arrested and recovered drugs.

Hafiz Al Asad, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the DMP's Media and Public Relations Department, said this on Tuesday morning.

He said 167 grams of 13 pieces of Puria heroin, 7,237 pieces of Yaba, 62 kg, 833 grams of Puria, 30 Puria cannabis, and 3 bottles of Phensedyl were seized from the arrested persons.

The police official also said that 50 cases have been registered against the arrested under the Narcotics Control Act.
