Drug use and sale, 59 arrested in Dhaka

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has launched anti-drug operations in the capital. During the operation, 59 people were arrested for selling and consuming drugs.

The DMP Media and Public Relations Department said in a press release on Sunday, January 09.

They were arrested during raids in different parts of the capital from 6 am on Saturday, January 8 to 6 am on Sunday, the statement said.

According to the DMP, 4865 pieces of Yaba, 140 grams, 1300 puria of pure heroin, 8 kg, 670 grams of cannabis, and 1 bottle of phensedyl were seized from the arrested persons.

A total of 44 cases have been registered against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act.

From Friday to Saturday, 72 people were arrested for the same crime. The police filed 46 cases against the accused.
