At least 30 people have been killed in gunfire in the West African country of Burkina Faso. The rebels set fire to houses in the village during the attack. People trying to escape at that time were shot at random.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in the province of Kilimanjaro near the Niger border. Many government officials reportedly fled the area to escape the attack.

Rebels surrounded the entire village and went from house to house to kill people and set them on fire.

Mediempo Tandamba, a resident, said about 100 rebels entered the city on motorcycles. He said four of his brother's children were killed in the attack.

"We were very scared today," Tandamba said.

Just a week ago, two Spanish journalists were attacked. Besides, several soldiers went missing in the attack on the army in the same area. At the same time, 18 people were killed in an attack on the country's town of Yattakou.
