'Bangladesh is always ready to face any challenge'

Highlighting the current situation in the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh is now ready to face any challenge.

She made the remarks while attending the graduation ceremony of 'National Defense Course and Armed Forces War Course-2021' via video conference on Thursday, December 2.

The Prime Minister said, "Our goal is to take the country forward. So that our armed forces can keep pace with the world. Because our armed forces participate in the UN peacekeeping mission. They have to keep pace with the members of the armed forces of other countries of the world. Therefore, our armed forces will always be trained and will gain knowledge about all kinds of equipment starting from modern technology and modern weapons. That is my attempt. As if we are not behind anyone."

"We have added state-of-the-art weapons, aircraft, and helicopters to all our forces in line with the developed world," she said.

"I did aviation university. We have converted CMHs across the country into modern hospitals. I have done five medical colleges."

The Prime Minister said besides protecting the sovereignty of the country, the members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces are always ready to make the highest sacrifices in any crisis. They have carried out various activities as frontline fighters in the global pandemic.

They have been highly praised for this. Disaster management is also working to develop the country's infrastructure. By joining the UN peacekeeping mission, their work has brightened the image of Bangladesh in the world arena.

She said Bangladesh is always ready to face any challenge here. We are ranked among the top five countries in the world in terms of economic growth. At present, the size of the economy of Bangladesh is 411 billion US dollars.

We have reduced the poverty rate from 40 percent to 20.5 percent.
