Six Bangladeshis have been arrested from Hooghly district in the neighboring Indian state of West Bengal, Chunchura police said.

Indian media outlet Zee24 Ghanta reported this information on Saturday quoting Chunchura police.

Police in Narayanganj, Bangladesh, claimed that the six arrested were residents of the area.

They were arrested from a house owned by a man named Akash Das in the Green Park area of ​​Chunchura town. Akash is a resident of Halishahar in North 24 Parganas.

During the police interrogation, the detainees said that Akash made fake Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and voter cards and arranged to go to work in different countries in the Middle East.

According to the police, Akash Das has arranged for many Bangladeshis to work abroad through fraud.

Police are investigating whether the six arrested have any militant affiliation with them or whether they had any plans to use them for any other purpose by collecting Indian citizenship documents. The Zee24 Ghanta report also mentioned that a case has been filed against the arrested.
