24 Rohingyas detained while fleeing from Bhasanchar

Members of the APBN Civil Team and Coast Guard detained 24 Rohingyas including women, men and children while fleeing from Bhasan char in Noakhali.

The arrested Rohingyas are Ehesan Ullah (22), Kismatara (21), Sumaiya (5), Senowara (25), Akifa Akter (3), Mohammad Rased Ullah (10 months), Riya Moni (4), Sipa Moni (2), Nurul Azim (23), Saikat Ara (18), Nurul Hakim (10), Md. Ibrahim (31), Jamalida (26), Abdul Quader (8), Nurkaida (5), Fatema (10 months), Almariza (7), Md. Ali (19), Sefayet Ullah (28), Hasina (26), Sumaiya (5), Nayan (12) and Jannatul Ferdous (8).

They were apprehended from the jungle, 10 km north-south of Bhasan char, in a raid from 8 pm to 10:45 pm on Thursday.

According to the district police administration, the detained Rohingyas secretly took shelter in the jungle to escape from the Bhasan char Rohingya camp around 2 pm on Wednesday night. It is learned that they took a position in the forest to escape to Chattogram by boat through brokers.

The Noakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident at around 11:20 pm on Thursday. He said the detainees have been handed over to the CIC office through the police for legal action.
