Border closure
Although the situation in Corona in India is improving, the government does not want to open the border with the neighboring country now. In this situation, the government has decided to extend the current border closure period for another 14 days. In other words, the land border with the country will be closed till July 14.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen on Monday, June 24. A senior Foreign Ministry official present at the meeting confirmed the matter.

He said the meeting had decided that the situation in our border districts was on the rise. That's why it's not right to take risks right now. Therefore, it has been decided to close the land border with India till July 14.

The official further said that during this period, Bangladeshis will be able to enter the border from India three days a week, i.e. on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays with proper documents.

Due to the bad situation in India, Bangladesh closed all land borders with the country for 14 days on April 26. However, among the Bangladeshi nationals stranded in the country whose visa period was 15 days or less, they were given the opportunity to return to the country on the condition of 14 days compulsory quarantine. The same rule still applies.
