1 killed in opposition attack in Brahmanbaria

A man named Abdul Qadir, 50, was allegedly killed in an attack in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria. The attack took place at Solabari village in Panishwar union of the upazila on Wednesday night.

Abdul Qadir is the son of late Bazlur Rahman of Solabari village.

Relatives of the deceased alleged that Qadir paid TK. 3.5 lakh to Ramzan Miah, a resident of Solabari village, to go to Iraq two years ago. He returned to Iraq after spending nine days in prison. Arbitration meetings were also held in the area on the issue. There was a dispute between the two.

Qadir went to meet a man named Malai Mia Sardar on Wednesday evening. Qadir was seriously injured when Ramzan Miah attacked him on his way home from there. He was later rescued and taken to the 250-bed General Hospital in Brahmanbaria, where doctors declared him dead.

Sarail police officer in charge (OC) Aslam Hossain said the police were investigating the matter after inspecting the spot. Legal action will be taken subject to the complaint. The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
