Militant attack kills 20 in Burkina Faso

Gunmen have attacked an army checkpoint in the West African country of Burkina Faso. The attack killed 20 people and injured several others. Among the dead were 19 military policemen. The other is a civilian.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A report by Qatar-based Al Jazeera on Monday, November 15 said the attack took place at a military police checkpoint near the northern Inata gold mine.
Burkina Faso's security minister, Maxime Kone, told state media that the attack took place at a military police checkpoint near the northern Inata gold mine. It killed 20 people. One of the dead was a civilian.
Twenty-two people were rescued alive from the scene after the attack. The death toll is expected to rise further. Kone described the attack as "barbaric and cowardly."
Since 2015, Burkina Faso has been battling a growing number of attacks by armed militia groups. Most of these armed groups are linked to the militant groups' Al Qaeda and IS. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
