8 killed as bus collides with tree

On the Barisal-Dhaka highway, a passenger bus lost control and collided with a tree, killing at least eight. Another 20 passengers were injured in the incident.

The accident took place around 5:30 am on Sunday, May 29.

Officer-in-charge of Uzirpur Police Station OC Ali Arshad confirmed the matter.

He said the car was carrying passengers from Dhaka to Bhandaria. On the way, the vehicle lost control and hit a tree when it reached Shanuhar in Uzirpur Upazila of Barisal district.

Eight people were killed in the incident.

He further said that the injured have been rescued and sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. However, their identities were not known. Two units of the fire service are working to rescue the car.
