At least 30 people have been killed and 40 others injured in a bus-truck collision in Pakistan. The accident took place on the Indus Highway in Dera Ghazi Khan area of ​​Punjab.

The bus was traveling from Sialkot in Punjab to Rajpur, the media reported.

Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Irshad Ahmed said 29 people, including women and children, were killed on the spot. Rescue operations are underway.

The injured were rescued and taken to DHQ Teaching Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan. Hospital authorities later confirmed the deaths of 30 people. Four of the injured are in critical condition.

In a tweet, Pakistan's Home Minister Sheikh Rashid expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. "People are returning home to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha," he said. Any accident is nothing less than a disaster.
