Bus-Truck collision in Bagerhat, 3 killed

Three people, including a child, were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Fakirhat in Bagerhat. The incident took place in Palerhat area of ​​Fakirhat Upazila on the Khulna-Mawa highway on Sunday morning.

Among the dead were two bus and truck drivers and a 10-month-old baby. Five more people were injured in the incident. They were first sent to Fakirhat and later to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

However, the names and addresses of the victims were not immediately known.

Mollahat Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Hasan said a Comfort Line passenger bus leaving Bagerhat for Dhaka collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction when it reached Palerhat area of ​​Fakirhat Upazila.

The bus and truck drivers were trapped. The fire service arrived and found them dead. The injured were rushed to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex.

Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex emergency department doctor Md. Sabuj Sheikh said a 10-month-old baby was found dead after being brought to the hospital. The condition of his parents is also critical. They were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

The deputy assistant director of Bagerhat Fire Service said they went to the spot and recovered the body of the bus and truck driver and handed it over to the police.
