Arrested with 50kg Cannabis

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detective Gulshan Division has arrested three drug dealers along with 50 kg of cannabis and a private car from Badda area in Dhaka. The names of those arrested are Md. Faruk Hossain, driver of the vehicle Md. Sumon and Md. Joynal Hossain.

On Monday, April 11, 2022, at 2:55 pm, the illegal arms and drug control team arrested them with cannabis from North Badda.

Debashish Karmakar, the assistant police commissioner of the Detective Illegal Weapons Recovery and Drug Control Team, who led the operation, told that information was received during a special operation in the metropolitan area on Monday that some drug dealers were coming to Dhaka in private cars to collect cannabis from Brahmanbaria district. On the basis of such information, a position was taken in front of Haji Siraj Market in North Badda. When the private car with registration number Dhaka Metro-G-28-5529 arrived at 2:55 pm, it was seized with the help of allied forces and Farooq, Sumon and Joynal were arrested. And 50 kg of cannabis was recovered from that private car.

Regarding the information obtained during the preliminary interrogation, the intelligence officer said that the arrested persons were collecting this huge quantity of cannabis from the border area of ​​Brahmanbaria district and bringing it for sale in different areas of Dhaka.

A case has been registered against those arrested at DMP's Badda police station under the Narcotics Control Act, the police official said.

The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Debashish Karmakar of the Illegal Weapons Recovery and Control Team under the direction of Deputy Commissioner of Police Gulshan Division Mashiur Rahman, BPM (Bar), PPM and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Md Kamruzzaman Sardar.
