China frees two Canadians
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that two Canadians detained in China are returning home on Saturday after being released.

Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, detained in China, were charged in 2018 with espionage. Earlier, Canadian police arrested Meng Wanzhou, China's top technology official, on the basis of a US arrest warrant.

Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou left Canada this morning after being released following an agreement with US prosecutors. The arrest of Wenzhou has sparked diplomatic tensions over the years.

Critics have accused China of detaining two Canadians for political gain in retaliation for Wanzhou's arrest. But Beijing denies it.
