Oscar-winning Canadian actor Christopher Plummer has breathed his last. A 91-year-old Plummer known as Captain Von of The Sound of Music died at his home in Connecticut.

The death of the legendary actor was reported by his family members, according to the BBC.

For the past seven decades, he has captivated not only the celluloid screen, but also the stage audience. He has acted in movies like 'The Sound of Music', 'All the money in the World'.

He won an Oscar in 2012.

Christopher Plummer was born in 1929 into a "royal" family in Canada. Christopher is the grandson of Sir John Abbott , the third Prime Minister of Canada. He grew up in the city of Toronto. From an early age he was equally proficient in English and French.
