Clash between workers-police in Rupganj

In Narayanganj, a fire broke out at a factory in Rupganj and the workers chased the police. At that time the agitated workers stopped the traffic on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. They threw brickbats at the police.

In other news, the agitated workers snatched four shotguns from the Ansar camp near the factory gate and tried to flee. Failing to escape, the workers dropped their shotguns in the side canal. Three shotguns were recovered from the canal water but the other one was not recovered.

In this incident, some journalists were also attacked by the workers while going to collect news. Relatives of the missing workers said that they were protesting outside the main gate of the factory on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway as many workers could not be found.

It was seen on the spot that agitated workers and people blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet highway for an hour in front of the gate of the mill. The protesters attacked Ansar, police and journalists and threw brickbats.

In this incident, some journalists who came to cover the news were beaten by the workers. Workers vandalized their motorcycles and snatched helmets. At present the traffic is somewhat normal but the situation is tense. Extreme tension is prevailing in the area.

Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mostain Billah, Dhaka Range DIG Habibur Rahman, Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police Md. Jaidul Alam and Rupganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shah Nusrat Jahan and many others in the administration were present in the spot.
