Bus-auto collision in Habiganj, killed 3

Three people, including two children and a brother, were killed in a collision between a bus and a CNG-powered autorickshaw at Habiganj's Madhabpur.

Five more people were injured. They have been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex with serious injuries. The accident took place on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Andiura in the Upazila around 1.30 pm on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Lupa Akhter, 63, daughter of Kadduch Miah of Rasulpur village, her brother Mosharraf, 3, and Abdul Jabbar.

Police arrested the bus driver Hafiz Uddin, 40, of Chandpur village in Moulvibazar and helper Liton Mia, 35, of Sarail Upazila in Brahmanbaria.

Shayestaganj Highway Police Officer in Charge (OC) Mainul Islam confirmed the incident and said, "A CNG-powered autorickshaw was going to Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex with a patient from Jagadishpur Temuhana in the Upazila. When the autorickshaw reached Andiura on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, it collided with a bus coming from the opposite direction. Lupa Akhter and Abdul Jabbar died on the spot. Six people were injured in the accident. After taking them to the Upazila Health Complex, Luper's brother Mosharraf died."
