Four people have been killed in a collision between an ambulance and a fishing pickup van at Kalihati in Tangail. Six others were injured.

The accident took place in Hatia area of ​​the upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway around 8:30 am on Saturday.

Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter.

Police and locals said the ambulance was carrying passengers to North Bengal. When they reached Hatia area of ​​the highway, they collided head-on with a pickup van carrying fish coming from the opposite direction. Three people, including the driver of the ambulance, died on the spot. Seven others in the ambulance and pickup van were injured in the incident.

Another died at the Tangail General Hospital after rescuing the injured.

Inspector of Police (Investigation) Shahidul Islam said, ‘The bodies of the deceased have been recovered. The injured have been rescued and sent to hospital. The identities of the victims are not yet known.
