Police have arrested three people on charges of copying the signature of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) to get electricity connection of an irrigation pump in Dhamrai, Dhaka. They were arrested from Kawalipara Bazar area of ​​Gagutia union of the Upazila on Monday night.

Earlier, Shamim, an employee of the Upazila administration, filed a case at Dhamrai police station in the evening.

The three arrested are Hamidul Islam and Abdul Qayyum of Jalsa village in Gagutia union of Dhamrai and Jasim Uddin of Baichail village in Balia union.

According to the police, Qayyum recently paid TK. 70,000 to Hamidul for an irrigation pump line. Hamidul did not deposit that money in Palli Bidyut. He forged the signature of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and submitted a letter of recommendation to Kusura DGM Engineer Belayet Hossain.

However, there is a doubt about the signature of UNO, the engineer then verifies the signature.

Later, Shamim, an employee of the Upazila administration, filed a case with the police station after finding evidence of forgery.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dhamrai Police Station Asim Biswas said, "A case was registered against the accused for forging the signature of Dhamrai Upazila Executive Officer and the accused was arrested. They will be sent to court on Tuesday."

Dhamrai Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hossain Mohammad Hai Jockey said, A case has been registered after informing the police.

The UNO warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone who did so in the future.
