Cristiano Ronaldo is set to join Manchester United for the second time and get the number seven jersey of his choice - Manchester United club authorities have confirmed the matter.

Ronaldo, 36, wore the number seven jersey when he played for Manchester United before. Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani holds the number seven jersey at the start of the season in the English Premier League.

However, Cavani will wear the number 21 jersey from now on, and Ronaldo will wear the number seven jersey of Manchester United.

As a rule, the Portuguese captain will start training with the 'Red Devils' after five days of isolation.

Regarding the favorite jersey, Ronaldo said: "I wasn't sure if I would get the number seven jersey again. So I would like to thank Eddie (Cavani) for this incredible courtesy."

Manchester United authorities said on their website: "The Portuguese superstar was known for his historic number seven jersey at United. We can now say for sure that Ronaldo will wear the same jersey again."

Ronaldo dramatically joined Manchester United on the last day of this season's transfer window. He is set to make his Red Devils debut in a Premier League match against Newcastle United on September 11.
