5 killed in Cumilla road accident

Five people were killed when a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw collided with a drum truck in Cumilla. The accident took place at 6 am on Friday, February 18 in the Tutbagan area of ​​the Cumilla-Brahmanbaria regional highway in Burichang Upazila of the district.

The deceased have been identified as CNG-powered autorickshaw driver Julhas Mia (60), passenger Zahirul Islam (35), Md. Jalal (37), Saiful (35) and Alamgir (34).

Two others injured in the incident are being treated at the hospital.

The matter has been confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mainamati Highway Police Station Belal Uddin Jahangir.

He said drum trucks and autorickshaws were heading towards Cumilla. Five people died on the spot when the truck hit them quickly.

The dead are all men. Their details were not known. The body has been kept at the police station. The drum truck has been seized.
