Cyclone Yaas has started hitting the Orissa coast of India. The cyclone started hitting the land south of Baleshwar in Orissa around 9.15 am local time on Wednesday, May 26.

At the moment the speed of the center of the cyclone is 130 to 140 kilometers per hour, maximum 155 kilometers.

The process will continue for the next three hours, according to the Twitter account of the India Meteorological Office.

According to the Indian Meteorological Office, the cyclone is currently located 30 km south-southeast of Baleshwar in Orissa.

Cyclone Yaas has been moving at a speed of 17 kilometers per hour for the last six hours. By midday on Wednesday, a powerful cyclone is expected to pass through Paras Island in Orissa and Sagar Island in West Bengal, south of Baleshwar in Orissa and north of Dhamra. Then the cyclone will move towards the state of Jharkhand.
