TK 6 Lakh was Snatched Using Fake Identity of DB Police

Police in Tangail have arrested five people for allegedly snatching six lakh takas from a man in a microbus.

They were sent to jail by the court on Thursday, April 21st. Tangail Superintendent of Police Mohammad Kaiser confirmed the matter in a press release at midnight.

Rabiul Karim Sulav, 30, and Masum Billa alias Munna, 28, were arrested in Gazipur metropolitan area, police said. Yusuf Kazi, 70, and Zakir Hossain Babu, 33, were arrested from Ullapara in Sirajganj and Selim Mia, 36, from Lalpur police station in Natore.

According to the press release, on April 10, DB police stopped the motorcycle of Russell Meer, who was working as DSO of Bikash, in front of Shamsul Haque College at Elenga bus stand in Kalihati. At that time, Russell Mia was forcibly picked up in a white microbus, beaten and his six lakh rupees were snatched from him. They later left Russell in the Gharinda bypass area of ​​Tangail Sadar Upazila with serious injuries. Russell filed a case with the Kalihati police station on April 19 over the incident.

Tangail Superintendent of Police Sarkar Mohammad Kaiser said a team comprising Kalihati police and Tangail DB Police was formed as the incident was sensational. During the raid, five members of the fake DB Police were arrested. Two lakh rupees, two sets of DB clothes, a pair of handcuffs, a signal light, a wireless and three mobiles of different brands were seized. Four of the detainees pleaded guilty to the charges and gave a confessional statement in court. They have been sent to jail.
