Trucker driver stabbed to death in Demra

A drum truck driver named Saiful Islam (30) was allegedly stabbed to death in Demra of the capital. He was rescued in a bloody condition on Saturday, January 29 morning, and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Driver Naeem told, “We pull sand with drum truck all night. I used to drive his (Saiful) truck. Now he drives himself. While pulling sand late at night, I got the news that Saiful was lying in front of the gate of the house of the former Hashu Commissioner in a bloody state. I went to the spot and saw him lying in a bloody state and informed Demra police station.

Later, a team from the police station rescued him and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College. But the on-duty doctor declared him dead.”

Saiful's niece Farooq Ali told, "We came to Dhaka Medical College late at night after receiving the news. I came and see that my uncle is no more. It is unknown at this time what he did to cause the injuries."

Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Demra Police Station Hares told that the body was kept in the morgue of DMCH for autopsy. Initially, it is believed that the truck driver was stabbed to death."
