Dhaka-New York flight
Biman Bangladesh Airlines will soon launch direct flights between Dhaka and New York, said Foreign Minister Abdul Momen.

Direct flights between the two cities have been closed since July 2006.

The Foreign Minister expressed this hope at a press briefing at Hotel Lotte Palace in New York on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's participation in various events on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

"Our prime minister arrived in New York yesterday (Sunday) on a flight," he said.

"Now our plane is here. We expect the airline to start operations on this route in the near future."

The Foreign Minister said the United States has signed an agreement with the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority. That is why we are hopeful that the flight will be launched soon.
