Police constable killed in Dhaka road accident

A constable of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) traffic department was killed when a microbus hit him in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.

The incident took place on the road in front of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital around 11am on Sunday.

The name of the killed Md. Helal (50). His village home is Gazipur. He was hit by a microbus while serving his duty.

Helal's body has been kept at Dhaka Medical College. This information was confirmed by Inspector Bachchu Mia of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost.

Bachchu Mia said police constable Helal was on duty on the road in front of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area. At around 11 am, a microbus pushed him away. Helal was brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Helal died at 11:30 am while undergoing treatment.

The government has announced strict 14-day restrictions in the country, including the capital, to control corona infection. There are police check posts on different roads of the capital enforcing the restrictions. Meanwhile, a traffic police constable was killed when a microbus hit him in Dhaka.
