Bus and a private vehicle collision in Dhamrai injured at least 50

More than 50 people were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a private vehicle at Dhamrai on the Dhaka-Aricha highway. The condition of six of the injured is critical.

The accident took place at Joypura bus stand in Dhamrai on Friday morning.

According to the Dhamrai Fire Service, a bus collided head-on with a private vehicle at Dhamrai Joypura bus stand on the Dhaka-Aricha highway around 8 am today.

At that time the bus overturned on the highway. And the private car is twisted. More than 50 passengers in buses and private cars were injured.

Upon receiving the news, Dhamrai Fire Service reached the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to different hospitals in Dhamrai for treatment. Six of the seriously injured were shifted to the capital. Doctors said their condition was critical.

Dhamrai Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hossain Mohammad High Jockey visited the spot. "The accident is definitely tragic," he said.

Many locals complained that some parts of the Joypura bus stand road had been cut off as part of the road development work. As a result, accidents often happen here.

Officer-in-charge of Dhamrai Police Station Atiqur Rahman said the private car involved in the accident was seized. A case has been filed with Dhamrai police station in this regard.
