3 killed as bus hits roadside tree in Dinajpur

At least three people, including a woman, were killed when a passenger bus lost control and collided with a tree in Dinajpur.


Another 18 injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The accident took place in front of Ramdubi Bankali Bazar in Sadar Upazila on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahim, 40, Arefin Akter Nisha, 23, and another male passenger, whose name was not known.

Locals said the speeding bus made a loud noise when it hit a tree. Hearing the sound, the people of the area came. They informed the fire service.

Upon receiving the news of the accident, Dinajpur Fire Service and Kotwali Police reached the spot and carried out rescue work.

Officer-in-charge of Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Mozaffar Hossain said the deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, 40. Besides, Nisha died at the hospital. The name and address of another dead man were not known.

The body is at Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital. The injured are being treated at the same hospital. Four of them are in critical condition.
