Twenty-two people have died after drinking poisonous liquor in three villages in India's Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district. 28 seriously ill. They are admitted into Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital and Malkhan Singh District Hospital.

Police said several people from Karsua, Andala and Cherat villages in Aligarh fell ill after drinking alcohol on Thursday. On the same day 15 people died. Seven more people died on Friday. Authorities fear the death toll could rise further.

Police have sealed five liquor shops in the villages. Samples of liquor from the shop have been sent for testing, the SSP said.Besides, the police authorities have ordered to close 500 licensed liquor shops in the district till the end of the investigation.
