63 arrested in anti-drug operation in the capital

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Crime and Intelligence Division has arrested 63 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital.

As part of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's regular anti-drug drive, they were arrested and drugs were recovered from various police stations in the capital from 6 am on Wednesday, February 16 to 6 am on Thursday, February 17.

DMP Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations (DC) Farooq Hossain confirmed this information on Thursday.

He said 15,458 pieces of Yaba, 45 grams 140 Puria heroin, 17 kg 840 grams 90 Puria cannabis, and 9 bottles of Phensedyl were seized from the 63 arrested persons.

The police official also said that 50 cases have been registered against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
