5.7-magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan-Tajikistan border

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake has shaken Afghanistan. The quake was felt at 9:45 a.m. local time (10:15 a.m. Bangladesh time) on the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border on Saturday, January 5.

The quake was also felt in Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir in India.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the magnitude 5.7 quake had a depth of 209.1 kilometers.

India's National Center for Seismology tweeted information about the quake.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or severe damage.
