The ongoing holidays in all secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions of the country and in Ibtedai ​​and Qawmi Madrasas have been extended till July 31.

This information was given in a notification sent by MA Khair, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Secondary and Higher Education Department on Tuesday, June 29.

The decision was taken on the advice of the National Committee on Covid-19 considering the health protection and overall safety of students, teachers, staff and parents as the Corona situation is deteriorating further across the country and strict lockdown is in effect, the statement said.

Secretary of the Ministry of Secondary and Higher Education. Mahbub Hossain said, "If the situation worsens, there is no opportunity to open an educational institution. We don’t want to see anyone at risk. The ongoing leave may be extended in consultation with the technical committee of the education ministry."

On the other hand, Director General of the Department of Primary Education Alamgir Muhammad Mansurul Alam said, "There are all kinds of preparations to open educational institutions on the date announced by the government." The institution can be opened only if the government gives instructions. Everything depends on the situation."

When the coronavirus infection started in the country, all the educational institutions were closed on March 17 last year.
