Emilio Flores Márquez is the oldest man in the world

Emilio Flores Marquez, a Puerto Rican, is currently listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest man in the world.

According to CNN, Marquez was born on August 08, 1908, in Carolina, Puerto Rico. His current age is 112 years 326 days. Guinness World Records recognized him as the world's oldest man last Wednesday.

Marquez was the second of his parents' 11 children. She helped with the household chores as well as looked after the younger siblings.

As the eldest child in the family, Marquez worked in his father's sugarcane field as a child. He used to help cut sugarcane from watering the fields and load it into wagons for transportation.

"I was the eldest child in the family," Marquez told the Guinness World Records.

"So everything had to be done. I used to do everything in the family starting from taking care of the children."

Marquez helped his family with labor in the sugarcane fields, Marquez told the Guinness Book of World Records.

His wife, Andre Perez, died in 2010. In their 75 years of marriage, four children were born. Marquez now has five grandchildren. These grandchildren have several more children. Marquez currently lives in Rio Piedres, Puerto Rico with his two surviving children, Trisha and Milito.

Romania's Dumitru Komanescu was previously the world's oldest person in the Guinness Book of World Records. He died on June 27, 2020. He breathed his last at the age of 111 years and 219 days, just a month after being named in the record books.
