Arrested for burning 12 buses in Faridpur

Police have arrested three people in connection with the blaze of 12 buses in Faridpur. They were arrested in the Heliport market area of ​​the city. The detainees confessed to setting fires to get compensation from the insurance and bank loans.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Jamal Pasha confirmed this matter.

The three arrested are Zahurul Islam Johnny (24) and Parvez Mridha (21) of West Goalchamat area of ​​Faridpur city and Mohammad Ali (41) of Gorail village of Nagarkanda Upazila.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Sumon Ranjan Sarkar, Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Helaluddin Bhuiyan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Mohammad Imdadul Hossain, and other senior police officials have attended the press conference.

It was informed at the press conference that the bus was seized in the money laundering case of Tk 2,000 crore. The fire was occurred to get compensation for the insurance of those buses and to get rid of the liability of bank loans.

The three accused who were arrested on Monday have admitted this. However, police said that further investigation is underway.

Barkat, Rubel, and nine of their associates were arrested in connection with the attack on the house of Faridpur district Awami League president Subal Chandra Saha on the night of May 16, 2020.

Later, the CID of Dhaka filed a case against them at Kafrul police station on charges of corruption, terrorism, and money laundering.
