Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has resumed ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia waterway after being closed for five hours due to heavy fog. The ferry service on this waterway started from 8 am on Tuesday, january 26.

Earlier, the ferry service from Paturia in Manikganj to Daulatdia in Rajbari was suspended due to heavy fog in the Padma River from 3 am on Monday.

Mohiuddin Russell, assistant manager of trade at BIWTC's Aricha sector, said the ferry's marking lights were not clearly visible due to the increased fog in the Padma. Due to this, the ferry service was stopped to avoid the accident. The decision was taken to operate the ferry as the fog density has reduced from 8:30 am today.

Meanwhile, after the start of ferry service, private car and passenger transport are being crossed on priority basis. This has brought relief to the common passengers.
