'Flight will be launched in New York'

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali said the flight would be launched in New York soon.

"Work on launching flights has nearly done," he said.

"Flights to Narita, Male, Japan, Sydney, Guangzhou, Australia will be launched. In addition, flights on these routes, including Narida, have nearly done and will be launched soon.

The Minister was speaking at a reception hosted by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Bangladesh High Commission in Canada on the occasion of the launch of the Dhaka-Toronto flight at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Toronto, Canada on Monday night.

"The issue of landing in Canada was very important," he said.

We landed flight in Canada. Many countries in the world did not get it. It is a matter of great pride for Bangladesh.

He said Bangabandhu loved Biman. He wanted to fly to different countries. We have started flights to Canada on the instructions of the Prime Minister. It will run three days a week from June. However, I am seeking everyone's cooperation so that we can start the flight every day of the week.

The state minister said the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be inaugurated by September 2023. It will be of international standard, service will be available at this airport like developed countries. Runway extended at Sylhet. Work is underway on a new international airport and to bring Cox's Bazar Airport to international standards to promote tourism in the international market.

The state minister said it is a matter of pride that Bangladesh Biman will fly to different countries carrying the national flag. This sector is the most affected during the Covid period.

Mahbub Ali said We have brought some reforms in Biman. By paying off debts in 2019, We have earned 273 crore. But many planes of the world have gone bankrupt. At the behest of the Prime Minister, no aviation staff lost their jobs in that crisis.

RM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, said the airline was moving towards improvement. And will improve. The launch of Toronto Flight will further enhance the friendly relations between the two countries.

He said if the flight could continue, it would play a big role in the economy of Bangladesh. Hopefully, the flight will operate very well.
