4 of a family burnt in Gas cylinder explosion

Four people, including a child, were burnt when a gas cylinder exploded at Mugda in the capital. The accident took place on Monday, November 22 at around 7:30 am on the ground floor of a five-storey building in Mugda Madbar Alley area.

The victims are Shefali (55), her daughter Priyanka (30), Priyanka's husband Sudhanshu (36) and son Arup (5).

They have been admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Palash, the son of the burnt Shefali, said, "My sister came to our house with her family yesterday for her husband's treatment. The explosion took place as soon as the match was set on fire in the kitchen and the stove was set on fire. Four of them were burnt. They were later rescued and brought to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute."

Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Resident Surgeon SM Ayub Hossain said four people were burnt in the gas cylinder explosion in Mugda. The condition of all of them is critical. The worst of them is Priyanka.

72% of her body was burnt. 67 per cent of the body of the child Arup was burnt. And 35 per cent of Shefali's body has been burnt.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp in-charge (inspector) Bachchu Mia has confirmed the matter.
