Germany and Belgium floods: At least 70 dead

Germany and Belgium floods
Part of Europe devastated by catastrophic floods. At least 70 people have been killed in Germany and Belgium. Many people are still missing.

Most died in Germany. The country’s Rhineland-Palatinate is the most affected. The road communication system of the region has completely collapsed. It is not possible to reach even by boat in many localities. So the residents are being rescued from the affected areas by helicopter. Many houses and structures are in danger of collapsing.

Meanwhile, the Belgian government has confirmed the deaths of 11 people. The Netherlands was also devastated by the floods. Heavy rains and flash floods are forecast in the countries till Friday.

Experts say developed countries are beginning to see the harmful effects of global warming and climate change.
