15 gold bars seized in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has claimed to have seized 15 gold bars (1 kg 749 grams) in a raid on a border village of Benapole Port Police Station in Jessore. One person has been arrested at that time.
The operation was carried out 25 yards inside Bangladesh on the banks of the Ichhamati river in Putkhali village on Wednesday morning. Detained Monirul Islam, 38 is a resident of Balunda village.

Lieutenant Colonel Tanvir Rahman, commander of the 21st BGB battalion, confirmed the matter and said that Monirul Islam was detained along with 1 kg 749 grams of gold bars in a sting operation. The market value of the seized gold is one crore 12 lakh 50 thousand takas.
He said the detainee was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station after interrogation.
