At least three people, including two college students, were killed in a head-on collision between a covered van and a motorcycle at Kotalipara in Gopalganj. The accident took place at 9 am on Monday in the Sikir Bazar area of ​​Gopalganj-Paysarhat regional highway of the Upazila.

The deceased have been identified as Rudra Mahmud, 20, son of Labu Sheikh of Uttarpara village under Radhaganj union, Murad Ghazi, 22, son of Faruk Ghazi of Ulahati village under Kotalipara municipality, and Naeem Hawlader, 22, son of Nowsher Hawlader of Unshia village under Amtali union of the same Upazila.

Among the dead: Rudra Mahmud of Kotalipara Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Government College HSC first-year student and Murad Gazi second year HSC student of the same college.

Kotalipara Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zillur Rahman said a covered van of the Sundarbans Cargo Service from Barisal collided head-on with a motorcycle as it approached the mural of poet Sukant at the Sikir Bazar intersection in Amtali Union. Motorcyclists Rudra Mahmud and Murad Ghazi were killed on the spot. Another injured Naeem Hawladar died on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

He added that the deadly covered van has been seized in the incident. The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and brought to the police station.
