Pepper is coming from india to meet the crisis

The government has decided to import green pepper from India to meet the crisis and keep prices in check. A total of 12 trucks are bringing green pepper from India through Bhomra land port in Satkhira and Sonamasjid land port in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday, August 10.

Several officials of the Ministry of Commerce told the media that the prices of pepper suddenly started rising after a week of Eid. At present, 200 kg of green pepper are being sold in the markets of the capital. Being sold at retail at a higher price. But even on the last day of July, 40-50 taka per kg of green pepper have been sold.
After that, the price of green pepper increased by Tk. 150 per kg in a week. To overcome this situation, it has been decided to import pepper from India.
JK Enterprise will import pepper from India through Bhomra between the two land ports. The three importers will import 650 tonnes of chillies through the Sonamasjid land port in Chapainawabganj. Of these, Messrs. BH Trading is importing 150 tons, Messrs. Golden Enterprise 200 tons and Messrs. Sajjad Enterprise 300 tons of Indian green pepper.
According to a press release issued by the Commerce Ministry, the government will issue more import permits (IPs) if necessary to keep the supply and price of chillies normal in the country's market. Necessary import permits have already been issued in favor of the importer.
